Penny Pals Penny Drive

Currently there are thousands of Canadian military personnel, serving our country overseas, in areas of conflict.  In the spirit of Remembrance Day and as a gesture of gratitude to Canadian troops currently serving our country, a number classes in the Durham region have set out to help contribute to the Royal Canadian Legion Operation Homefires initiative.

The students hope to contribute financially to this project through a penny drive they have named “Penny Pals”.   The students of St. Francis de Sales Catholic School in Ajax, Ontario started with a single penny on October 10 and with the help of schools across the region, hope to double the amount of each contribution, each day, to achieve a goal of $5 242.88 by November 4, 2006.

By October 23rd, 2006, over six schools have joined in to accomplish this goal, with more soon to join!

All interested schools are encouraged to join in the effort to help reach our goal and perhaps, even surpass it.
